Are we a good fit?

PLEASE NOTE: I offer sessions in person as well as via telehealth.

For members of the LGBTQ+ community, those who practice non-Christian religions/spiritual traditions, and those looking for a counselor who is cognizant of her own privilege as it relates to racial and abilities-based inequities, I welcome the opportunity to work with you.

Your past does not define you, but it does effect how you move through your life today, for better or worse…..

And while you can’t change what happened in the past, you can change your relationship to it and the impact it has on you and your loved ones.

I take an integrative, mind-body oriented approach to counseling.

I’m not a typical talk therapist.

My work with clients is collaborative and process oriented.

We dive deep to look at what’s driving your symptoms.

We explore what’s happening in the here and now, because that’s where our history plays out.

We include your body in the process because the body is just as important as your mind when it comes to psychological well-being.

My work with clients is exploratory rather than agenda focused.

I’m not here to offer advice or tell you what to do (although you might wish I did).

I’m here to help you get to know yourself and understand the behaviors you wish were different.

Our work together starts with exploring what you’d like for yourself, what you’re hoping to get from our time together. Sometimes it’s clear from the start, sometimes it evolves over time.

What you want for yourself becomes the guiding thread of our work together.

We explore and identify the barriers that get in the way of what you want for yourself. These barriers can be strategies we developed during childhood to navigate our home environment, emotions we shut down because they overwhelmed us, ways we disconnect from ourselves or others, beliefs we have about ourselves, or ways of moving through the world that no longer serve us.

These barriers served us well at one time. They deserve respect and understanding. They developed for good reasons. Many times these barriers are so much a part of us, we’re unaware, or unconscious of them.

As we become more aware of them and the role they served, we become more of an active participant in our life. We gain more choice.

It becomes easier for us to move towards what we want for ourself, to be more authentic, to stay connected to ourself, and be available for connection to others.

In short, I’m here to help you discover what you want for yourself and clear away what stands in its way so you can live your life more fully and authentically.

This approach to counseling can shift patterns of chronic stress, relieve trauma symptoms, and help you find clarity so you can move forward with a greater connection to yourself and greater capacity for deep, meaningful connections to others.
