What an Experiential Consult is…
An Experiential Consult is an educational opportunity for NARM students to gain a deeper, more personal experience of the interventions used in NARM. An Experiential Consult has the intention to support your learning of NARM through experiencing, discussing, and debriefing relevant NARM principles and skills. During an Experiential Consult you can choose to work with your own material or you can role-play a client.
What an Experiential Consult is not….
An Experiential Consult is not therapeutic or a replacement for therapy or personal growth work. While the student may gain new awareness or insights that support their personal development, Experiential Consults are educational. In addition, unlike a therapeutic relationship with a counselor, Experiential Consults are not confidential and material that is brought up during an Experiential Consult may be discussed with the training team for the purpose of supporting your learning and integration of the NARM material that is being taught in Level 1 or Level 2.
Some reminders about how to most effectively use these NARM Experiential Consults:
Use your worksheet to support your learning and guide the debrief
The overall goal of the Experiential Consults is to provide an opportunity for all NARM students to learn how to apply NARM skills and principles clinically with a wide range of clients
The learning objectives focus on recognizing NARM principles in action, demonstrating understanding of the use of NARM principles and skills in an applied setting, appraising the various choice points and reasons for choosing specific clinical interventions, assessing the value and impact of different clinical interventions with clients, and being able to summarize and communicate the theme(s) of a clinical session from a NARM perspective
It is expected that you will set a learning intention for the Experiential Consult, and share it with your Experiential Consult Provider, so that the learning goals and objectives can be established at the outset in a collaborative manner
A few other important reminders:
You are free to role-play a client or use your own personal material
If you choose to use your own personal material, you are welcome to share as little or as much personal information as you are comfortable
Please remember that what you share in these learning exercises is not confidential – our teaching teams do discuss learning edges and teaching points in our team meetings, gathered often from these Experiential Consults
You will never be required to participate, and may refuse to answer any question, pause or discontinue your participation at any time
Please remember that the Experiential Consult Provider will be interrupting you throughout this process to provide instruction, reflection, and discussion
Please remember that this is an educational exercise and not a clinical session, so the goal is not for you to receive personal growth and healing, but to focus on how to apply NARM principles and skills to clinical situations
Scheduling Process
In an effort to make the scheduling and payment process as user-friendly and streamlined as possible, I use the practice management software PracticeQ for all of my scheduling, record keeping, and payment are processed through the merchant processor Stripe which is integrated into PracticeQ. processing.
Clicking the “schedule your consult” button at the bottom of the page will give you access to my online calendar where you can see my current availability and request an appointment time. Appointment times should automatically show you your local time zone which you can see specified in red just below the calendar.
Once your requested appointment time has been approved, you’ll receive an email giving you access to the online client portal in PracticeQ where you’ll find an informed consent document to complete prior to your experiential as well as payment information and a worksheet for you to reference in preparation for our time together. The informed consent and payment information needs to be completed 48 hours prior to your consult. If this information is not completed by that time, your consult will be canceled.
Payment
In the client portal, you will enter your credit card information. After your consult, your card will be billed. As an additional layer of security, since this is not an ongoing client relationship, I will delete your card once your payment is processed. If you have more than 1 experiential consult scheduled with me, I will delete your card after your last experiential.
Please note, I do not accept payment via PayPal, Venmo, or checks.
Cancellation Policy
Your time is valuable, my time is valuable.
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, I require you to notify me at least 48 hours prior to the start of your scheduled appointment.
I can be reached via email, text, voicemail, or via message through the client portal.
If canceling or rescheduling with less than 48-hour notice, you will be charged the full session rate for your appointment and will not receive credit for an Experiential Consult.
Knowing about appointment changes at least 48 hours ahead of time gives my other clients access to that appointment time and allows me to run a sustainable business.
